Frequently Asked Questions — HVAC & AC Services

AC Repair Questions
Everything about getting your AC fixed fast and correctly
How quickly can you come out for an emergency AC repair?
We offer same-day service across the entire Treasure Coast. For emergency breakdowns — systems completely down in peak Florida heat — call us directly at (561) 354-8892 and we will prioritize your visit. We understand that a broken AC in South Florida is not a minor inconvenience.
Why is my AC blowing warm air?
The most common causes are low refrigerant, a dirty evaporator coil, a failed compressor, or a tripped breaker. Each has a different fix and a different cost — which is why an accurate diagnosis matters more than a quick guess. Our technicians identify the real cause before recommending any repair.
Why does my AC keep tripping the circuit breaker?
A breaker trips when the system draws more current than the circuit can handle. Common causes include a failing compressor, dirty filters restricting airflow, low refrigerant, or an electrical fault. Do not keep resetting the breaker — this can cause more damage. Call us and we will find the root cause.
Why is water dripping from my AC unit?
A blocked condensate drain line is the most common cause — especially in Florida’s humid climate where algae growth blocks drains frequently. Other causes include frozen evaporator coils or low refrigerant. Minor leaks can become water damage quickly. Call us at the first sign of leaking.
Do you charge a diagnostic fee?
Call us at (561) 354-8892 for our current diagnostic fee policy. VIP Maintenance Club members have diagnostic fees waived as part of their membership — one of the many ways the club pays for itself. Ask about enrollment when you call.
What brands of AC systems do you repair?
We repair all major brands including Lennox, Trane, Carrier, Rheem, Goodman, Daikin, Bryant, Amana, RUUD, York, Tempstar, and Payne. If your brand is not listed — call us anyway. Our NATE-certified technicians are trained across virtually all residential and light commercial systems.
Is every repair covered by a warranty?
Yes. Every repair we complete comes with a written warranty on both parts and labor. If the same problem returns within the warranty period we come back and fix it at no additional charge. We walk you through the warranty terms before starting any work so there are no surprises.
Maintenance Questions
How to keep your system running efficiently year-round
How often should I have my AC serviced in Florida?
At minimum once a year — ideally in spring before peak cooling season begins. Because Florida AC systems run nearly year-round they experience significantly more wear than systems in northern states. Many Florida homeowners benefit from two visits per year. Our VIP Maintenance Club Standard and Premium plans are built around this reality.
How often should I change my AC filter?
In Florida where systems run almost continuously, we recommend changing your filter every 30 to 60 days depending on the filter type, number of people in the home, and whether you have pets. A clogged filter is the single most common — and most preventable — cause of AC performance problems and premature failure.
What is included in a tune-up?
Our tune-up includes coil cleaning, condensate drain clearing, refrigerant level check, motor and blower inspection, safety switch testing, electrical connections check, thermostat calibration, and a written inspection report. We inspect every major component and flag anything that may need attention before it becomes a problem.
What is the VIP Maintenance Club and how does it work?
The VIP Maintenance Club is our annual membership program with three plan levels starting at $22/month. Members receive scheduled maintenance visits, priority service scheduling, repair discounts of 10–15%, and no diagnostic or service call fees. Call us to enroll and we will schedule your first visit on the same call. See our Maintenance page for full details.
Is it worth running the AC all day in Florida?
In Florida running your AC all day is generally better for your system than turning it off and on repeatedly — especially during summer. Letting a home heat up significantly and then cooling it back down is harder on the system and more expensive than maintaining a steady temperature. Using a programmable thermostat to allow slight temperature variance during unoccupied hours is the most efficient approach.
AC Replacement Questions
When to replace and what to expect from a new installation
How do I know if I should repair or replace my AC system?
Use the $5,000 rule as a starting guide — multiply your system’s age in years by the estimated repair cost. If the result exceeds $5,000 replacement is generally the smarter investment. Other indicators that favor replacement: the system is 12–15+ years old, uses R-22 refrigerant, requires frequent repairs, or is driving energy bills higher despite maintenance. We give you an honest assessment of both options before you decide.
How long does an AC system last in Florida?
Well-maintained systems typically last 12 to 15 years in Florida — shorter than the national average because systems run almost year-round. Systems that skip maintenance often fail earlier. If your system is approaching 10 years it is worth getting an assessment so you can plan rather than be caught off guard by an emergency failure.
What size AC system do I need for my home?
Proper sizing depends on your home’s square footage, ceiling height, insulation, window count, sun exposure, and layout — not just the size of your current system. We conduct a proper Manual J load calculation on every installation. Never accept a quote from a company that sizes your system without doing this calculation first — an oversized or undersized system will cost you more money in the long run.
How long does a new AC installation take?
Most residential AC system replacements take 4 to 8 hours. We aim to complete every installation in a single visit so your home is comfortable again the same day. We will give you a specific time estimate during your consultation based on the scope of your installation.
What brands do you recommend for Florida homes?
For Florida’s high-humidity coastal climate we recommend systems with strong SEER2 ratings and proven durability in heat and humidity. Daikin, Carrier, and Trane consistently perform well in this environment. We are a licensed Daikin supplier. That said — the best brand for your home depends on your budget, existing ductwork, and specific needs. We will walk you through the options honestly with no commission-driven bias.
Duct Cleaning Questions
What you need to know about duct cleaning and inspection
How often should I have my ducts cleaned in Florida?
The EPA recommends duct cleaning when there is visible mold growth, evidence of pests, or excessive dust and debris. In Florida’s humid climate we generally recommend an inspection every 3 to 5 years — more frequently for homes with pets, allergy sufferers, or older duct systems. Our robotic duct inspection gives you a definitive answer about whether cleaning is actually needed before you spend money on it.
What is robotic duct inspection and do I need it?
Our robotic duct inspection uses a small camera-equipped robot that travels through your entire duct system giving you a live view of exactly what is inside — buildup, damage, blockages, or mold that is completely invisible from the outside. We recommend it for any home that has never had a duct inspection, systems older than 10 years, or homes where air quality or efficiency has unexpectedly declined. It is also the only honest way to know whether duct cleaning is truly needed before paying for it.
Can dirty ducts affect my health?
Yes. Ductwork contaminated with mold, dust, pet dander, or pest debris recirculates those contaminants throughout your home every time your system runs. This can worsen allergies, trigger respiratory issues, and reduce overall indoor air quality. Florida’s humidity makes mold growth inside ducts a genuine concern — particularly in homes that have experienced water intrusion or flooding.
When should I replace my ductwork instead of just cleaning it?
Duct replacement makes sense when ducts are severely deteriorated, collapsed, riddled with holes, or when cleaning would not adequately address the contamination level. Ductwork in Florida typically lasts 15 to 25 years depending on the material and installation quality. Our robotic inspection identifies whether cleaning is sufficient or replacement is the more cost-effective long-term solution.
